Getting started, early

London Freelance Branch helps you move into freelancing with a one-day seminar on Getting started as a freelance The morning session, taught by Humphrey Evans, covers setting yourself to decide what you can offer as a freelance journalist, how to go about looking for work, interacting with editors and others who might commission your work - and doing deals that, hopefully, will stick. We also do a bit about finance and tax. The afternoon features LFB chair Phil Sutcliffe, on what you can do to try to make sure that clients actually pay up and on copyright. The next sessions are on 13 April and 26 October next year. Book early to avoid disappoint- ment, or to provoke more days: call Humphrey Evans on 020 7281 1442.
