Dennis Publishing marked Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee by paying its freelance contributors particularly late. Despite written assurances that invoices are settled at the end of each month, they invariably arrive a week late. The double bank holiday at the beginning of June put them back yet further because "the signatories were away". "Thank heavens," a member rejoices, "we no longer live in a feudal state".
