No talking on the bus please, we’re freelance

A BBC staffer, perhaps looking redundancy in the face, turned up on the NUJ's Getting Started as a Freelance course.

Enthused by the discussion on pitching, he imparted one piece of crucial advice:

"If you're a freelance thinking of working for the BBC, don't whatever you do, discuss your ideas while travelling on the C2 bus."

The C2 runs between north London's Highgate and the White City. So it is apparently packed with BBC personnel coming and going - at all times of day.

"People like me only need a whisper of an idea to be up and running," our BBC inside source said. "I once overheard a professor talking about his work. Overhearing just two words was enough to give me the outline of an entire programme."

You have been warned.
