Press Freedom Day

New media are killing journalism. Or are they? That's the title of the debate to mark World Press Freedom Day on Friday 2 May, organised by the NUJ, the UK branch of UNESCO and the Frontline Club, which represents journalists who work in conflict zones. Nick Davies, author of Flat Earth News is among the speakers,  (see his interview in the Journalist at www.thejournalist.org.uk/PDFs/Journalist_Apr08.pdf). He's joined by Independent editor Simon Kelner and Andrew Keen, author of Cult of the Amateur: How Today's Internet Is Killing Our Culture and Assaulting Our Economy.  The event is from 10am-12 noon, at  the Frontline Club, Norfolk Place, London W2, it's free, but you need to book, via UNESCO at www.unesco.org.uk from 1 April.
