Money for multiplatforming

FREELANCES can get up £800 in funding towards a training course to help 'make the transition to a multiplatform working environment'. Skillset, the council for 'sector skills' in TV, film, radio, publishing and interactive media, have 38 bursaries for training available. These are open to freelances currently working in TV, or to freelances working in other sectors where there used to be just a single medium - print, for example - but where all media are now converging together into some sort of bewildering multiplatform environment-type thing. Skillset's TV Freelance Fund bursaries cover up to 80 per cent of the cost of the course, and the deadline for applications is March 31 2010. For details, including eligibility, see Skillset Multiplatform Bursaries.
