Bauer contributors - meet up!

More than 200 freelance journalists are resisting Bauer Media's rights-stripping contracts, and the impasse has reached crisis point. (See the latest update on Bauer's attempted right grab here.)

The journalists, all contributors to Bauer's music magazines, have offered concessions that have been rejected by the publisher. Attempts to negotiate on a suggested alternative contract have been rebuffed.

The contracts take copyright from the freelances and require them to indemnify the publisher against any legal claims arising from their work.

Sources say the contracts will be rolled out across the entire Bauer group within the UK.

Every freelance who contributes to any Bauer title is invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday 5 May at 6:30pm, at Headland House, 308 Gray's Inn Rd, London WC1X 8DP.

The more who attend, the stronger we will be.
