Sky's limit


NUJ members demonstrated outside the Department for Culture, Media and Sport immediately the Minister, Jeremy Hunt, announced on 3 March that he was minded to allow the Murdoch clan to buy the 61 per cent of Sky that it does not already own, in return for spinning off Sky News with the existing 39 per cent stake and an independent editorial board: as the Freelance said before, that worked so well with the Times, didnít it? Minister Cough has since received 38,000 submissions to a consultation on this, including one from the NUJ. Above, Tony Lennon, recent President of sister union BECTU, speaks.
