Branch motions via website and email, not just print
FOLLOWING a vote to amend London Freelance Branch's Standing Orders (its rules), these have now been updated online. The rules now allow notice of motions for the next Branch meeting (and a reminder of the date of the next meeting) to be conveyed to members via the "Virtual Freelance" email sent out to members a week in advance of the Branch meeting, usually on the previous Monday evening.
The Branch email-out (it usually has the subject line that starts "Monday's London Freelance Branch meeting and Virtual Freelance") has a link pointing to the motions section of the LFB meetings page.
You can also check for upcoming motions at London Freelance Branch meetings via the "meetings" page at http://www.londonfreelance.org/lfb/meetings.html - there's a also a link to this near the top of the LFB website's homepage.
While every effort is made to also notify members of motions (that ask the Branch to spend money) in the print edition of the Freelance, economies mean that the print edition Freelance is only mailed out bi-monthly, along with the NUJ's magazine the the Journalist, whose publication dates don't coincide with the cycle of LFB meetings.
So now there's an even better reason for NUJ members to make sure we have your up to date email address via http://www.londonfreelance.org/linkup.php. We promise to send you only one emall a month, except in cases of dire emergency.
Branch meetings are normally on the second Monday of the month, at Friends House, opposite Euston station, unless otherwise stated with plenty of notice.
