Elections - General Election monitoring and NUJ Councils

THOSE OF you who are eligible to vote in the General Election on Thursday 12 December and who registered to vote in time are reminded to take the time to do so. We've heard that many polling stations in schools have changed location, as many of the usual school buildings are unavailable at such short notice. So please check the location of yours.

In the run-up to the elections, the Freelance is collecting data on any cases in which journalists are pressured to report on the elections in a particular way. Please let us know of any such incidents, to election@londonfreelance.org, in confidence.

The Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom (North) is producing an Election Watch briefing - see www.coldtype.net/MediaNorth.html or email cpbfnorth@outlook.com subscribe to their list.

Thursday 12 December is also the start of another election - to the NUJ's Councils, including its highest decision-making body, the National Executive Council (NEC), its Industrial Councils representing various demographics and industrial sectors.

Full members of the NUJ should receive their ballots by that date. If you don't, contact elections@nuj.org.uk - your completed ballot has to be posted to arrive at the NUJ by second class post before 29 January 2020.

We commend for your consideration those candidates that have been nominated by LFB.
