What is the impact of quarantine measures on journalists?
THE NUJ has lobbied hard to ensure that journalists were acknowledged and classified as key workers at the outset of lockdown, in order to ensure that vital newsgathering could continue during this unprecedented period.
The government plans to introduce new measures to quarantine those coming to the UK, including returning UK holidaymakers. People will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days and provide an address at border control, with exemptions currently for those arriving from the Republic of Ireland and France.
Clearly such a move will impact on reporters, photographers and videographers who by necessity travel in the course of their work, and the NUJ believes it is vital such journalists are also exempted from the quarantine measures.
Please take a few moments to complete the short survey below, particularly if travel abroad features in your work. We want to gather data in order to help our case for allowances to be made for journalists in impending legislation.
