Fame at past!
The NUJ's Headland House headquarters boasts a small library among its other facilities. There it shows off three framed application forms from past members: Herbert George Wells, George Bernard Shaw and George Orwell. And guess what, all three luminaries reveal that they have been practicing freelance journalists, although George Orwell's application probably stems from his appointment just two weeks previously as Literary Editor at Tribune.
