Victories in Copenhagen

THE Dansk Journalistforbund has won an important High Court decision on the interpretation of collective agreements where authors' rights are concerned. It brought the case against DJ and Aller Ltd, a company that publishes five magazines in Denmark and has companies in the other Nordic countries and in the Baltic states. The ruling means that the company does not have the right to insert new clauses on the transfer of authors rights into new employees' contracts.

And in a separate development, 1200 members of DJ at the Danish Radio- and Television Company struck for 21 days in August. An agreement was reached on 11 September, and the following day 76.5 per cent voted to accept it.
