Do panic!

Rough Guides authors have approached the NUJ to organise a freelance chapel. A first meeting took place at the end of September. Since then, around 20 of Guide's authors have joined the union. A meeting to elect chapel officials was scheduled for 7 November.

There are around 200 authors in total, and not all will be eligible for membership. But the intention is to approach the company to seek collective negotiations on the standard contract, which is well capable of improvement.
