Still out but not down

Abdul-Hadi Jiad and Adli Hawwari were peremptorily dismissed by the BBC World Service on 15 May - and they're not going quietly.

They need the help of everyone who can make it to demonstrate outside the TUC on Monday 10 November from 08:30 to 09:30. Greg Dyke will be there to open a BECTU organised job fair, the "Moving On Up" event.

The event is open to ethnic minority film and TV professionals and is supported by the BBC, Granada, Carlton, Channel 4, DCMS, CRE, etc.

This is the best opportunity for us to confront Dyke and pressurise him to resintate our two colleagues, Adli and Abdulhadi. We should not let him get away with parading as a champion of Black journalists when in reality he sacks them whenever they stand up to him and expose the racist practice of BBC management.

The Union is trying at a short notice to get the maximum of activists to turn up: please do come if you can. The picket is taking place at 8.30am outside the TUC, Great Russell Street (nearest station Tottenham Court Road; map). The demonstration will last for about one hour. The least you can do is to stop there on your way to work.
