Payback pays out
ILLUSTRATORS and photographers in the UK received over £2.25 million between them at the end of December.
That was two years' worth of money collected for them by DACS, the Design and Artists Copyright Society. DACS has been distributing revenue from collectively licensed rights to artists and visual creators since 1999.
This service, known since 2001 as Payback, has seen massive growth in licensing revenue payouts and in the numbers of visual creators benefiting. Read more at: www.dacs.org.uk.
Eligible NUJ members are automatically signed up to DACS's scheme for collecting payment for photocopying and certain other secondary uses of their work. If you want to opt out of this, please contact the Freelance Office to say so.
