Martin O'Hagan was murdered on the evening of Friday 28 September 2001 in front of his wife near his home in Lurgan. The Sunday World journalist was Secretary of the Branch. Police investigations have still produced no charges.
The Branch also delivered letters to the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland and to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, reminding them of their predecessors' commitments to find the killers. The following week a memorial to journalists killed because of their work was unveiled by Journalistes sans frontières founder Robert Menard at Bayeux in France. Martin's is one of 60 names on the pillar for 2001, below.
