New US contempt record
A freelance videographer was freed in April after a record-breaking incarceration for contempt of court in the US. Josh Wolf was imprisoned last August for refusing to hand over footage of an attack on a policeman and a police car, and stayed in prison long after the original case against the accused he had filmed had been dismissed. The Federal court in San Francisco contested whether "citizen journalist" Josh is a "reporter". His release followed a deal in which he posted the footage online, but declined to identify people in his footage.
