Journo co-op for South Wales

Local News South Wales (LNSW) - a workers’ co-operative for journalists and other media workers, is now up and running.

It has a board of experienced local journalists, with premises secured and a local news website for Port Talbot about to launch. A market research exercise is also in progress, with the ultimate aim of launching not-for-profit online and print publications across the region. It will also help train local news journalists.

LNSW is seeking pledges of financial support, however small, and voluntary labour during weekdays to help get its office running. There will be a meeting for locally-based journalists interested in joining the co-op, and for supporters at 1pm on Thursday 4 March at Swansea Yacht and Sub Aqua Club, East Burrows Road Swansea SA1 1RE.
