Simplify tax

THE NUJ has arranged a meeting with the Treasury's new Office of Tax Simplification, to discuss issues including tax deducted at source from freelances who work shifts, and other tax complexities for freelances. The Freelance Office is looking for a broad range of freelance NUJ members (writers, photographers and particularly those who work regular casual shifts) to attend this "tax simplification workshop" to relate their experiences of freelancing and the intricacies of the tax system. If you are able to attend the workshop, from 2pm-4pm on Friday, 12 November at the NUJ's HQ at Headland House between 2pm and 4pm: please email the Freelance Office as soon as possible.
