Show marks Wapping strike 25 years on
There's an exhibition commemorating the strike that started 25 years ago when News International moved production of its four national newspapers to Wapping in London's Docklands, sacking 5000 production and clerical workers overnight. Over 100 "refusenik" journalists took a stand on principle and walked out of their jobs.
It features images, leaflets, posters and memorabilia: 25 Years On: News International Dispute 1986-87 runs from 1 May-31 May at the Marx Memorial Library, Clerkenwell Green, London EC1 (map; nearest tube: Farringdon). Some Wapping dispute memorabilia will be on sale.
