US Appeals court un-protects sources
THE FOLLOWING self-explanatory motion will (subject to a vote at the 9 July meeting of London Freelance Branch) be put to the NUJ's Delegate Meeting in the autumn:
This Delegate Meeting regrets the decision of the United States First Circuit court of appeal in Boston, Massachusetts on 6 July that interviews carried out for the Belfast Project on condition that they be sealed until the death of the interviewees should be released to the Police Service of Northern Ireland. This DM instructs the NEC to offer all possible support to Ed Moloney and Anthony McIntyre of the Belfast Project in continuing to defend their confidential sources and their own safety.
Ed Moloney is asking for a re-hearing by the full panel of the Appeals Court.
