Black Members’ Conference
THE NUJ is holding its annual Black Members' Conference at Headland House on Saturday 6 April. The theme will be bullying and harassment in the media. This affects all members - but has a particular resonance for Black and minority ethnic members when race discrimination is involved.
The lead speaker will be NUJ General Secretary Michelle Stanistreet, who took a prominent rôle in the recent Leveson Inquiry, including raising the issues of bullying and of conscience clauses protecting journalists who refuse to break the Code of Conduct. Other speakers to be arranged.
The conference will also elect eight members to the NUJ Black Members' Council and members will have the opportunity to submit motions for debate. It will start at 11am with registration and refreshments, and will close at 2pm. A light lunch will be provided. Please register your place by emailing lenac@nuj.org.uk.
