Reporting the far right
WITH UKIP breathing down their necks, all the mainstream parties will be grasping
the race card in the run up to the next general election, and it seems the murder of
Lee Rigby in Woolwich last month has given every radio station an opportunity to
interview their favourite Nazi.
Journalists need to get tooled up with the facts about the far right, the myths about
immigration and the ways and means to handle racists and Nazis.
SPEAKERS:
- Daniel Trilling, New Statesman and author of Bloody Nasty People: the rise of
Britain's far right;
- Maurice Wren, chief executive Refugee Council;
- Brian Richardson, Unite Against Fascism.
It's on Wednesday 24 July at 7pm at NUJ headquarters, Headland House, 308-312 Gray's Inn Road, WC1X 8DP (nearest tube, King's Cross.
