Urgent - Re: Royal Charter on the Press
WEDNESDAY 9 October is the deadline for the Privy Council to approve of one of the two rival Royal Charters on press regulation currently before them - the one accepted by all the big political parties and based on Leveson recommendations, or the newspaper barons' charter drawn up by PressBoF.
Having studied the background, (see, for example, the Freelance's write up of LFB's meeting on press regulation) please consider writing to your MP asking them to use any influence they may have on the Council, and also consider signing the Hacked Off Campaign petition favouring the approval of the Leveson-based Charter.
You may also choose to read the hilarious appeal "not to not co-operate with Hacked Off - a group that can be best described as subversive", penned by Mr Alan Partridge Esq.
