THE NUJ, together with the Campaign Against Criminalising Communities (CAMPACC), Statewatch, Campaign for Press and Broadcasting Freedom (CPBF), Haldane Society of Socialist Lawyers invite you to a discussion on State Surveillance, Counter-Terror Powers and Global Securitisation Strategies.
The meeting follows recent revelations on new developments in the field of all-pervasive "security measures" and the rationale given for counter-terror measures and mass state surveillance.
Recent examples have been the unmasking of undercover police officers in activist circles; interrogation at airports under Schedule 7 to the Terrorism Act; the use of informers and electronic surveillance of - apparently - absolutely everyone by the NSA and GCHQ.
