Are you a young journalist, full-time resident in the UK, studying for a journalism qualification or starting out on your journalism career? Can you follow George Orwell's six rules for writing?.

If so, you could enter The Orwell Society / NUJ Young Journalists' Award 2023, which offers prizes of £1500 in each of two categories. The runners-up in each category will receive £500.

In addition, winners who are studying towards a journalism qualification will each receive a free NUJ student membership. The two winners and two runners-up (four finalists in total) will each receive a three-year free membership of The Orwell Society.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 30 March 2023.
