We are told that today's planned strike at the BBC Cairo office has been temporarily halted. This pause comes as the BBC initiates meaningful discussions, with the participation of Khaled El Balshy, the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, and several representatives from the striking BBC Cairo office journalists.

NUJ members show solidarity with BBC Cairo strikers

JOURNALISTS and other staff in the BBCs Cairo office have voted to hold a second strike, following a 10-day action. Their pay dispute with the BBC is over the impact of spiralling inflation in Egypt.
