Announcing the LFB Pitching Clinic

IN RESPONSE to demand from our members and growing requests for more opportunities beyond our coffee mornings, we are thrilled to introduce our latest initiative: the Pitching Clinic. This will allow you to engage directly with an editor and to seek guidance on pitching techniques and networking strategies. We invite you to join us and take advantage of this invaluable opportunity.

Events in the near future include:

  • How to pitch money and personal finance stories - 19 July at 10.30 am.

On 7 June we had a coffee morning with the NUJ President, freelance photographer Natasha Hirst at 10:30. She talked about safety covering demonstration and gave an introduction to freelancing, not least for staff who have faced redundancy and became freelance. Future pitching events will include:

Steven Mathieson, focussing mainly on writing and editing across various domains, including technology, government affairs, business (with a specialisation in energy and climate change), and data journalism. He can also help dabble in audio production. His expertise extends to crafting engaging narratives and producing data visualisations.

Taj Ali, who is co-editor at @tribunemagazine, specialising in coverage of trade unions and workers' rights. Recognised as a historian of British South Asian political activism, he offers insights into effective pitching strategies for Tribune.
