Richard Medhurst has his kit seized again
BRANCH member and foreign affairs reporter Richard Medhurst told the September branch meeting about his arrest on 15 August from the steps of an aeroplane at London Heathrow airport under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000. At the time the NUJ and the International Federation of Journalists jointly expressed concern over that arrest.
Now, on 6 February Richard posted on Twitter (currently trading as "X"):
I was detained this week by the Austrian police and intelligence services.
They raided my house, office, and took all my devices.
They are accusing me of being a member of Hamas and threatened me with 10 years in prison.
Journalism is not a crime.
