Always ask for a better contract
A CONTRIBUTOR to the Rate for the Job reminds us that if you are pitching to Future Publishing titles, such as Guitarist and Prog, you should ask for a different contract if the “all rights” version is thrust at you. Keeping your copyright means that you can claim if your work is re-published – not uncommon in music publishing – and for “photocopying money” from ALCS or DACS.
In the past Condé Nast – of Vogue fame – has had such contracts. At least before New Scientist was bought by the Daily Mail group it had one, for authors who have agents. Please tell editor@londonfreelance.org about others you come across.
