‘The bravest people in the world’

Sangita Myska
BELOVED broadcaster Sangita Myska spoke movingly at the London Freelance Branch vigil on 27 August honouring colleagues killed in Gaza.
At Nasser Hospital, she said, “Israel, like terrorist organisations, carried out a second attack on those arriving at the scene after the first strike... If Russia had killed five journalists on live broadcast, do you think the British media would have ignored it? I don’t think so.
“A Palestinian journalist being killed is not just the death of one person -- it is the death of journalism.”
There is video of Sangita Myska's full speech here on TikTok via Twitter (X).
It attracted wide attention, including an endorsement from singer Annie Lennox:
Sangita wrote: "Musician and human rights activist Annie Lennox has endorsed the call from the London Freelance Chapel of the @NUJofficial for Keir Starmer and his government to act now to protect journalists in Gaza - many of whom have been smeared by Isreal with unsubstantiated claims."
Annie Lennox had written in response to Samgita's speech:
Absolutely appalling...
This entire debacle has revealed the darkest aspects of human behaviour.
Thank you for your clear articulate speech..clarifying the gaslighting lighting obfuscation that has been applied for years... It REALLY works in deceiving and confusing people as to where 'truth' lies... but after almost two years of brutal siege and tens of thousands of civilian slaughter it has to be time to finally bring this to an end.
SHAME on all the perpetrators of crimes against humanity!
We are seeking to publish Sangita's entire speech.
