Scam alert!

A BRANCH member reports a scam that is new to the Freelance, at least. They were commissioned out of the blue and turned in the work. Then they were told that in order to get the promised fee they needed to deposit a sum in a bank account.

Yes – the “commission” was an “advance fee scam”.

No, the member didn’t fall for it, but did lose the time spent on the piece.

We recommend always checking out the bona fides of any new client – and indeed its existence. Never pay money claimed to be “required” to unlock a payment to you.
