NUJ Irish Secretary Eoin Ronayne (from left, 1) and General Secretary John Foster (3) hand over the union's submission to Professor Brice Dickson, Chief Commissioner of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (2). Irish Organiser Seamus Dooley (4) looks on.
The submission argues that the proposed NI Bill of Rights must include freedom of the media - a first in UK-administered lands - and full, un-waiveable Authors' Rights for both staff and freelances. And, of course, trades union rights.
Belfast freelance Kevin Cooper, who co-ordinated work on the submission,
commented that "It is vital that a Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland include protection for journalists."
