We’re worth the money

I have been a freelance member now for three or four years. To be honest, I haven't really seen any major benefits. However, a few months ago the Freelance advertised ALCS [Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society] and photocopy royalties for authors' and journalists' published work. I applied and received a cheque for over £1000 as a result of this (relating to six years' worth of feature writing). So without a doubt, membership is worth it, in the very real (cash) sense.
