South Yorkshire Times & BBC to strike; Sutton settles
Journalists at Newsquest's Sutton newspapers voted to strike for four days from 27 June; but the dispute was settled after the second day of the strike.
Meanwhile, journalists on the South Yorkshire Times have voted to strike, also over redundancies and the level of staffing necessary to deliver quality reporting.
They have announced an indefinite strike from Friday 15 July onward.
Also, journalists in the BBC struck on Friday 15 July and will be striking again on Monday 1 August against proposed compulsory redundancies, with a work-to-rule from Tuesday 2 August.
Watch www.nuj.org.uk for updates. As ever, the chapels would appreciate it if freelances engaged to work on any strike days found themselves unavailableish. Anyone suffering hardship as a result of being unavailable should contact the chapel.
