Social media and the digital newsroom
NUJ INDEPENDENT Broadcasting
and New Media Branch presents
"Social Media and the Digital Newsroom:
Closing the Gap".
This examines the increasing overlap
between user-generated content,
blogging, citizen journalism, new media
marketing and more traditional
news practices. It's for anyone (both
NUJ members and non-members)
who works with online content for
a living, be it within a tech start-up,
multimedia newsroom, blogging or
social media capacity.
The guest speaker will be Lisette
Johnston, senior multimedia journalist
at BBC World News, with 13
years of experience working across
social, print, mobile video and television
platforms. She recently won a
prize for her academic research on
social media and TV coverage of the
Syria conflict.
It's on Tuesday 23 February at
LAUNCH22, 31A Corsham Street,
London N1 6DR (near Old Street
station) and kick-off is at 18:30.
It's free, with drink and nibbles
provided. To register go to www.bit.ly/LisetteJ
