We are told that today's planned strike at the BBC Cairo office has been temporarily halted. This pause comes as the BBC initiates meaningful discussions, with the participation of Khaled El Balshy, the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, and several representatives from the striking BBC Cairo office journalists.
Solidarity with BBC Cairo strikers

Strikers in Cairo
JOURNALISTS and other staff in the BBCs Cairo office are part way through a 10-day strike. Their pay dispute with the BBC is over the impact of spiralling inflation in Egypt.

Broadcasting House at night
The NUJ is organising a solidarity leafleting session to coincide with the final day of the strike - on Wednesday 30 August. Come between 8am and 10am to New Broadcasting House to show support to our colleagues in Egypt.
Broadcasting House is at the end of Langham Place, London W1A 1AA - 500 metres north of Oxford Circus Tube; see Open Street Map.
